This whole week just flew by and with Bar Gemels and the our potluck Feast on Sunday we were pretty busy. Anja’s toy workshop went well, even if it wasn’t all that she hoped (being a perfectionist, nothing ever is… 🙂 ) and the House
came home with a number of award scrolls. We were really tired on Sunday, but our feast was tasty and we got some planning done.
This coming week is getting back into the swing of the projects. Loren has his helm to work on, Anja is trying to finish some clothing and Marcus is really getting rolling on the pins. Metal Night is Tuesday evening at Marcus’, Sewing is going to be from 5-9 on Thursday and then Sunday is our regular Project Day. Anja is thinking about more candles, since they all went out to largesse.
Here is the direct Portfolio link which has all the past Project Day reports and all the various projects. https://housecapuchin.wordpress.com/portfolio/
Metal Night – Loren was hunting helmet plans, which meant that nobody but Marcus showed up for armor making, so he made pins. Now he needs a pin cushion (although Anja reminded him that he had one in his sewing kit…) He is thinking about using a brocade for the pin cushion . He found some links on pins and pinners.
Sewing Time – Loren and Anja were busy on largesse projects, but we finally got Marcus started on the shoulder seams on his Coptic tunic. This part will go *much* faster!
Friday Packing – That’s a lot of stuff!
Largesse Prep & Handoff – This was split in 1/2 (sort-of) with 1/2 going to Summits and 1/2 to Dragon’s Mist. 6 pincushions, 24 pouches, 8 yoyos, 2 wood butter sets, which is 22 pieces each, 10 pairs beeswax dip candles, 10 lavendar-infused votive candles, 12 little people sets, 6 drop spindle sets and then the Scavenger hunt prizes. It’s a total of 182 pieces! Seamus collected the boxes at the event with one set to Principality and one to the Baron’s of Dragon’s Mist and a set of toys that are going to the May Crown Scavenger Hunt.
Bar Gemels Toy Workshop – Saturday, April 18
We had 5 people signed in, but nine people total, 3 of whom were kids who had an uproarious time with a bunch of the toys. 2 people managed to stick for the whole workshop.
Bar Gemels – 4/18/15 – A word on the day from the Pater Familas:
We left early from my house, and got to the site at a little before 10. I unloaded my car and set everything in the class room for Anja. Then I visited with Rowan Spiritwalker, and Tammy for a bit. A few minutes of visiting with Rowan, and she asked me if Anja was going to be at morning court. I said that she wasn’t planing on it. To which Rowan replied that she would very much like to be at morning court with her friend Anja.
I hoofed it back to Anja’s class room to get her, and I was stopped by Baroness Ainslee who also wanted Anja to be at court. I then finished my jaunt to Anja’s class room to inform her that Her Pater Familias commanded her presence at morning court.
When Anja got to the side of the eric she sat down, and removed her shoes so that her feet could warm and dry in the sun, then her name was called, and we needed to hurry and get her to the court, so she didn’t have time to put her shoes back on so ended up in soaked white socks. At court Anja was given the Gime Stone for Arts and Sciences.
While I was shelling hard boiled eggs for the evening feast, a messenger was sent from the evening court to inform me that Their Majesties requested my presence. At this point I dropped one of the hard boiled eggs on the floor and stepped on it. I am grateful that everyone in the kitchen was willing to clean up after me while I was at court.
After getting the 1st box loaded into the car Rowan Spiritwalker came walking up to us, and let me know that Anja and myself had both been called into principality court. Anja was too sore and tired to go to the court, so I went up there with Rowan on her behalf. When I was called up in front of the court the prince asked me how the eggs were coming along, then he gave me a grail for service. After giving me the Grail for service Anja was awarded a Grail for Arts and sciences. The prince even mentioned how much fun it is to read our blog and called our House a “largesse machine”. I wonder what he’s going to think of our offerings next year?
Rowan received her Jambe de Lion in that court, as well.
